What is a Celebratory 5K?
Our 5k event is a family friendly, untimed run/walk.   No clock, no winners, no pressure!  This is a double loop 3.1 mile course that runs the Pineland Trails.  Course Map coming soon!  We will kick off the day with fun activities including our happy hair station, face painting, hula hoops and music.  Runners are encouraged to show some GOTR spirit which may include tutus, silly socks, super hero capes and anything else that puts on smile on your face.

The Celebratory 5k is rain/snow or shine.  The event will not be rescheduled.

Each GOTR girl runs the Celebratory 5k with a running buddy.  A running buddy can be a family member, friend or volunteer who runs with a GOTR girl at the 5k – encouraging her, cheering her on and sharing in her excitement along the way!  We welcome families to assign a running buddy to complete the 5k with their girl on the run!  Running Buddies assigned by the family can be male or female and must be at least 16 years of age.  If you do not have a Running Buddy for your daughter, we can match her up with one of her coaches or one our volunteer running buddies who are eager to join her for the 5k.  GOTR Volunteer Running Buddies are at least 18 years of age and will undergo a background check.

Attire/Weather: GOTR girls and coaches should wear their purple GOTR program shirts.  We are anticipating a cold day so please make sure everyone is dressed with layers as needed.   The gym inside the YMCA is available as a warming area.  We also encourage our runners to RUN FUN!  What does that look like?  Anything from silly hats, fun socks, super hero capes, tutus, you name it!

Parking:  There are numerous parking lots available on the Pineland Campus.  We will have volunteers directing you to open lots.  Parking lots can be accessed through the Pineland Drive or Farm View Drive Entrances.  There will be a 5-10 minute walk from some of the lots so please plan your arrival accordingly.  DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS.

Check In:  All girls and Running Buddies will check in with their coaches at their team pole on the lawn in front of the YMCA.  There are large signs to help you find your team.  Upon check in the coaches will give you race bibs, pins, Running Buddy t-shirts and additional ordered t-shirts.  Running Buddies who registered by October 16 will receive a 5k t-shirt.

Running Buddy Changes: If a registered Running Buddy is no longer able to run with a GOTR girl, you can substitute someone else without an additional fee.  The new Running Buddy must  stop by the GOTR Info Table at the 5k to sign a waiver.

Restrooms:  Bathrooms are available inside the YMCA in addition to portable toilets in the parking lot.

Spectators:   The 5k is only for girls and their registered running buddies but we encourage spectators at our event!  The runners will be looping through the front of the YMCA numerous times so it is easy to cheer on your GOTR girl.  Please be mindful of the race course markings and do not stand in the runners path.  Pineland Farms has a NO DOGS ALLOWED policy and we ask you to respect that rule.

Food:  Post Race Food for all runners has been donated by Dunkin’ Donuts and Mindful Trading Snacks. Water has been donated by CVS Pharmacies and Nestle Water.  Free Dunkin’ Donuts coffee will be available for spectators.

5k Photography:  Minor Moments Photography will be taking pictures at the event.  Pictures will be available for purchase through the website.
